to the Prime Minister on High Speeds and Research and Development
The Strategic Advisory Board on Information
Technologies (CSTI), set up on 11 April 2001, apprised the Prime
Minister of substantial results on March 19th.
This crucial stage concerns the following:
- widespread access to data transfer rates suited to each need;
- micropayments on the Internet and training;
- the engine driving technological change: research and development.
Once they have transmitted the CSTI report to
the Prime Minister, Mr ABRAMATIC Vice-President of ILOG, Mr BRETON
Chairman of Thomson Multimédia, Mrs PASTEL Chairman of
AUFEMININ.COM, CSTI members, and Mr ROUCAIROL, Chairman of the
national network of software technologies and Scientific Director
of Bull, will attend a press conference at the Hôtel Matignon.

talks
The stakes underscored in these reports and
the information society will be debated during the CSTI talks
on 22 March 2002: "Digital Technology for Everybody -
What Actions should the public undertake ?"
The Minister for Research Mr Roger-Gérard SCHWARTZENBERG
will attend. The accent focus will be on the development of digital
technology-a major challenge for SMEs and individuals-and on the
forces driving the change for innovation and for faster mutation.

le Conseil stratégique des technologies de l'information
(CSTI) conseille le Premier ministre dans le domaine des technologies
de l'information pour la mise en uvre et l'évaluation
des actions du programme d'action gouvernemental pour la société
de l'information et des programmes communautaires.
The Strategic Advisory Board on Information
Technologies (CSTI) brings together
leading researchers and entrepreneurs and advises the Prime
Minister on information technologies, for the roll out and assessment
of the actions stemming from the government action programme for
the information society, and of Community programmes.
During the year 2001, CSTI communicated opinions
on the Internet schools charter,
third generation Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS)
and the 6th European FRDP (2002-2006).
