Lionel Jospin on 11 April 2001

11 April 2001

Prime Minister Lionel Jospin inaugurated the Strategic Advisory Board on Information Technologies (Conseil stratégique des technologies de l'information, or CSTI) on Wednesday 11 April at 5:00 p.m.

Launched by the Interministerial Committee for the Information Society (Comité interministériel pour la société de l'information, or CISI) at its meeting on 10 July 2000, the CSTI brings together researchers and industry leaders. Its membership was published on 11 April 2001 in the Journal Officiel.

Created by decree on 7 November 2000, the CSTI is responsible for advising the Prime Minister, to whom it can send any proposal in the field of information technology and make recommendations regarding the implementation and evaluation of the activities of the French Government Programme for the Information Society and European Union programmes.

By counterpoising viewpoints and analyses, it guides the Government's strategic choices with regard to innovation and research and development in the field of information technology.

The CSTI meets three times yearly under the aegis of the Prime Minister and may draw on any relevant public institutions and services, in particular on the General Council on Information Technologies (Conseil général des technologies de l'information, or CGTI) , which serves as secretariat.

The Strategic Advisory Board on Information Technologies (Conseil stratégique des technologies de l'information, or CSTI), which is made up of researchers and business leaders,
advises the Prime Minister in the field of information technology regarding the implementation and evaluation of the activities of the French Government Programme for the Information Society and European Union programmes.
