On
9 May
2005,
Didier
Lombard
was
appointed
to
the
Strategic
Advisory
Board
on
Information
Technologies
by
order
of
the
Prime
Minister.
In
February
2005,
he
was
appointed
Chairman
and
CEO
of
France
Telecom,
where
he
has
also
been
in
charge
of
Technologies,
Strategic
Partnerships
and
New
Usages
since
March
2003.
In
1967,
Mr.
Lombard
began
his
career
at
CNET
(a
France
Telecom
unit
subsequently
renamed
Research
&
Development
Division)
where
he
worked
on
the
development
of
products
for
satellites,
electronic
components
and
wireless
systems.
From
1988
to
1990,
Mr
Lombard
was
Scientific
and
Technical
Director
at
the
Ministry
of
Research
and
Technology.
From
1991
to
1998,
he
was
Director
General
for
Industrial
Strategy
at
the
Ministry
of
Industry.
From
1999
to
2003,
he
was
Delegated
Ambassador
for
International
Investment
and
the
founding
chairman
of
the
French
Agency
for
International
Investment.
Mr
Lombard
is
also
a director
of
Orange
and
Thomson
and
a Supervisory
Board
member
of
Radiall
and
ST
Microelectronics.
Mr.
Lombard
is
a graduate
from
Ecole
Polytechnique
and
Ecole
Nationale
Supérieure
des
Télécommunications.
Mr.
Lombard
is
an
Officer
in
the
Legion
of
Honour
and
a Commander
in
the
National
Order
of
Merit.
