Born
in 1960, Grégoire Olivier is a chief engineer with a diploma from the Ecole
des Mines and a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique. He also holds an MBA from Chicago
University.
From 1985 to
1989, he held a number of positions at the Ministry of Industry. In 1990 and 1991
he was technical advisor on industry, energy and the environment to the Prime
Minister.
In 1991, Grégoire
Olivier joined Péchiney, first as General Manager of the Aluminium unit
in Greece (1992-1994), next as Manager of the Chicago Plant of American National
Can (1995) and subsequently as Vice President Strategy at ANC (1996-1998) in Chicago.
In
1998, Grégoire Olivier moved to Alcatel as divisional manager and subsequently
CEO of SAFT, Alcatel's battery unit.
In
April 2001, Grégoire Olivier was appointed Chairman of SAGEM's Management
Board. SAGEM is an global high-tech player. The leader on the French mobile telephony
market, SAGEM heads the European fax market and a major supplier of global services
and multiservice networks. The third-ranked European defence and security electronics
supplier, the world leader in the digital print biometrics market and a leading
avionics and aircraft information systems player, SAGEM is established in more
than twenty countries.
Grégoire
Olivier is a member of the Scientific Defence Board. In September 2004, he was
appointed to the Strategic Advisory Board on Information Technologies.
He
is a director of IMERYS and WENDEL Investissement.
